Consultant Position

 
Vector Communications, a 20-year-old award-winning public engagement and communications consulting firm, is seeking a full-time consultant. The successful candidate will be someone who is experienced working with clients and executing successful projects, can multi-task and is a team player. He or she will work on any of the following types of projects:

  • Public engagement (transportation, education, economic development, health care, parks and recreation);
  • Meeting facilitation;
  • Media relations;
  • Communications planning and implementation; and/or
  • Event planning and execution.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The consultant will play an integral role in the company’s success and that of its clients. Specifically, s/he will:

  • Maintain high quality client relations by working directly with clients to execute successfully their projects;
  • Create a project management plan;
  • Execute project activities, such as:
  • Creating and executing outreach strategies;
  • Planning and executing innovative engagement strategies;
  • Designing strategies for soliciting feedback and input;
  • Conducting data analysis of audience feedback;
  • Designing and facilitating small group and large group meeting processes;
  • Writing meeting and client summary reports;
  • Arranging event logistics;
  • Perform other duties as assigned;
  • Track project hours for monthly client billing; and
  • Help improve materials and processes.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

At a minimum, the individual selected for this position must possess the following qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, public policy, social work, organizational development or related field
  • At least two to three years of managing and executing external or internal projects
  • Consultant experience
  • Strong written communication skills (as evidenced by a writing test administered by Vector)
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Experience with team-oriented project execution
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Social media experience

Further qualifications, such as those listed below, are desired but not required.

  • Advanced degree in journalism, public policy, social work, organizational development or related field
  • Experience with survey design, research and statistical analysis
  • Experience with meeting facilitation

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • Annual cost-of-living adjustment in January
  • Quarterly performance assessment in first year; annually after year one
  • Ten vacation days (pro-rated after 90 days)
  • Three personal days (pro-rated after 90 days)
  • Paid holiday vacation (December 25th through January 1st)
  • Paid eight hours a month to volunteer at a mutually approved nonprofit (available after 60 days)
  • Health, dental, vision and life insurance after first 60 days of employment
