| As
co-founder of Vector Communications, Laurna Godwin is a three-time
Emmy award winning broadcast journalist who spent more than twenty
years in television as a news anchor, reporter, talk show host and
producer. She worked at a variety of cities and television stations
throughout the country including WNET-TV in New York City and serving
as a mid-west stringer for CNN in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to co-creating
Vector, Laurna was the sole owner of Godwin Communications, a media
relations and video production company. As the partner responsible for communications, Laurna has won several international and national video production awards, including most recently top honors from the “Communicator” Awards for a video she produced for the City of St. Louis on its economic development program. The “Crystal Award of Excellence” is given to those whose ability to communicate puts them “among the best in the field and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.” In August 2003, the St. Louis Business Journal named Laurna as one of the 25 Most Influential Businesswomen in St. Louis. Her other civic honors include: the St. Louis YWCA’s “Women in Leadership” award; the Alton, Illinois YWCA’s “Women in Leadership” award; and the St. Louis Sentinel Newspaper’s “Yes I Can” award. Laurna is also an active volunteer in the St. Louis region. Currently, she is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois and serves on the boards of the Girl Scout Council of Greater St. Louis, the Regional Chamber and Growth Association and the United Way of Greater St. Louis. Laurna is also a trustee of the Whitaker Foundation. In 2000, she was appointed to the Illinois Community College Board, where she continues to serve as a member of the governing body of the state¹s 49 community colleges. Laurna received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and American Studies from Princeton University and her masters in journalism from Columbia University in New York City. |
